I really do love bread. All kinds, no discrimination. This rustic bread has a wonderful flavour and it great served with any kind of soups, used as the base for sandwiches, toasted, as a base for bruschetta and much more. Rustic Style Whole Wheat Bread Ingredients
Method First combine salt and flour in a bowl Then in a small bowl, mix the yeast and 1 tablespoon of flour together with the warm water. Let his sit for about 10 minutes. After the yeast mixture has sat for 10 minutes and has started to bubble, combine the water and the yeast mixture with the flour creating a very sticky dough. Use your hands while mixing the ingredients to make sure they are well combined. Let the dough sit covered with a tea towel for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes knead the dough, add the oil to the dough as this point and continue kneading for about 8 minutes until the dough bounces back when pushed. Shape your dough in a medium loaf. Place on a greased baking sheet. Cover the loaf with a damp tea towel and place in a warm place until it doubles in size. About 1 hour. While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Once the loaf has risen, make 3 or 4 diagonal light cuts on the top. This prevents the crust from splitting open. Place the loaf in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes. Now, lower your oven temperature to 350 degrees F and bake for a further 30 minutes. When the loaf is done, you should be able to tap the bottom and it will have a hollow sound to it.
