Just recently I was reading a very interesting article about the love of food and cooking. In a world that is all about fast, quick and easy, food really does seem to be neglected. Have we forgotten how to love food?
I have thought about this time and time again recently. What got me into food blogging wasn't 10 minute dinners, trendy food or (God forbid) social media. What brought me to this place is my love for food and all that it entails. I love cooking, full stop. I also love sharing food. Clearly, I love eating! Over time, I have found that I love writing and sharing. So be it a very different aspect to the cooking itself. To enjoy something immensely, no matter what that be, there has to be passion. So, lets bring passion back to food.
Okay, there isn't always time to spend hours in the kitchen as that doesn't relate to most people's real lives. However, there are moments or even days when we all have a little extra time. Time that can be spent creating something we love. I recently wrote a post about quick dinners and about how achievable they actually are. I did touch on my kitchen being my happy place. That is true. I am a person that likes time alone, an introvert if you like. I'm totally okay with that title. Off on a complete tangent here. Just last week I ran into a dear woman while beach walking. She later sent me a video about the importance of creativity and introverts. It was one of those Ted videos (which I hadn't even heard of until that moment). Guess what, it's okay to be creative, indulgent, by yourself cooking in the kitchen with a glass of wine. So, go on be a rebel and cook something with love, passion and delicious ingredients!
Monday Most people think of beef when they think of burgers. But burgers can come is all types of varieties. These Mexican Style Crispy Chicken Burgers could be a fun change from your regular beef burger.
Tuesday Everyone has probably heard the expression Taco Tuesday. So, I am keeping it easy on this Tuesday with these Spicy Beef Tacos. A fun and easy food for a quick dinner with family or friends.
Wednesday After receiving rave reviews for Mike's Slow Roasted Carrot & Ginger Soup, I had to create something myself. This Curried Cauliflower and Carrot Soup is easily a close second! Serve with some fresh rustic bread and maybe a salad on the side. A great meal.
Thursday I absolutely love risottos. This Sweet Potato Risotto makes for a warm and satisfying dish for the fall months. Risottos are not as tricky as you may think, if you have never gotten around to making one, why not give this easy one a try.
Friday This is a great dinner for guests or just to enjoy for yourself. The real work in this Shrimp Linguine is peeling the shrimps. Everything else is easy peasy.
Saturday Nothing says weekend like pizza! Why not give this Caramelized Onion Mushroom & Caper Pizza a try for a grown up and sophisticated taste. This is not a quick pizza recipe which is why I kept it for the weekend. Remember the love?
Sunday This Smothered Pork Loin Roast in a Creamy Sherry Sauce is great for a Sunday lunch with the family. Serve alongside your favourite side dishes and you are all set. If you are serving a crowd, make two of these roasts and the sauce can easily be doubled up. The cooking time of the roasts won't change at all and they will easily fit on the same roasting tin.
Dessert When I was little, lemon meringue pie was my favourite dessert. This is a different and delicious take on that pie. This Lemon Meringue Cake is absolutely divine and would make for a great show stopping dessert.
See you all next week for some more delicious menu ideas!
