Okay, so it's a day late. I meant to have this posted and time just ran away from me yesterday. Next week should be more organized. Fingers crossed!
This week I am putting together a collection of all stove top meals. I have to say, it is my absolute favourite way of cooking. Not all these dinners are super quick, but most can be done in more or less a half an hour. If you are really looking to save time at witching hour, you could have your prep work done in advance and in he fridge ready to go. Quite often with stove top dinners the prep work is what takes the time. All that chopping!
Happy Cooking friends and next week I will be on time with the meal plan!
Monday This Creamed Spinach & Mushroom Chicken is a great dish to start your Monday! This dish has become one of my favourite family suppers over the past year and I make it quite often. Usually we serve it with rice or potatoes as a very basic side. The dish holds enough flavour that the side doesn't need to stand out. Another great one pot stove top meal.
Tuesday Why not try this Sun Dried Tomato & Arugula Tagliatelle dish for dinner this week. If you love creamy pasta dishes, this is one for you. A hit with adults and kids alike. If you are looking for more pasta ideas, check out the pasta section on the blog.
Wednesday I love all fish cakes, and I don't think there are any exceptions. These Spiced Salmon & Red Pepper Cakes make a great mid week meal. You can have them all on their own or with some sautéed vegetables on the side for a more substantial meal.
Dinner time saver - All fish cakes can be prepared in advance and refrigerated until ready to cook. These can even be made up to 24 hours before cooking. Then you only have to give them a quick fry before serving.
Thursday Is is too early for soup yet? Well, I say why not. September is literally just a few days away and I am longing to break out some new soup recipes. In the meantime this Minestrone Soup is a great meal all on it's own.
Dinner time saver - Soup is a meal that can easily be made in advance and served when you are ready. If you are planning this soup that way, don't add the pasta until you are ready to serve. Pasta has a way to continue cooking once it's in a warm broth.
Friday I absolutely love one pot meals. This One Pot Chicken & Rice dish is similar to a risotto and a great family meal any time of year.
Dinner time saver - With this dish you can easily have all the prep work done in advance and stored in the fridge until ready to cook.
Saturday Pasta dishes are great for busy weekends. This Mascarpone and Green Olive Tagliatelle is done in not time at all. Add a salad on the side and a cold glass of white and you are all set.
Sunday This Caramelized Onion Stove Top Pork is a great Sunday meal. Add mashed potatoes and some veggies and you are all set to dive into a delicious dinner.
Dinner time saver - Believe it or not, you can caramelize onions in advance and keep them in a glass jar in the refrigerator. If you know you won't have time to do it when you are making the meal. I found this out one day when I made far too many. Guess what with a quick stove top reheat, they were just as good as fresh.
Dessert If you have never tried Buñuelos, you just have to try these Traditional Mexican Buñuelos. So easy to make and no oven needed. They are even great dipped in chocolate!
See you all next week for some more delicious menu ideas!
